The Vedas, Vedanta, Geeta, Ramayana, and Mahabharata are regarded as the treasures of mankind. The world got its early arithmetic, algebra and geometry from India. It was Indian scholars that gave the number 1 to 9 and the zero sign.
You may have heard of the universities at Nalanda and Taxila. The former was in modern Bihar and the letter was near modern Peshawar. They were the most famous seats of learning in their times. Even scholars from different countries came and lived there as student for years together.
In works of art, India has some very wonderful things. The cave temple at Ajanta and Ellora, the temple at Puri, Konarak and Madhurai are world famous work of art. The Taj Mahal at Agra is also a wonderful structure of white marbel. It considered one of the seven wonders in the world. Thousands of people from all over the world come every year in India to visit it.
